[Picture of a young girl, cropped to just her shoulder, part of her face and her hair in a braid. Green text in the upper left-hand corner reads; “On Tumblr, it’s considered crazy to assume someone is asexual because of childhood trauma, but what if it were true? My brother and a family friend molested me when I was a child.” In parenthesis it reads; “Separately, neither knowing about what they other was doing, but multiple times for each.”
In smaller green print beneath it, it reads; “I’ve never felt particularly traumatized by it, but…”
Beneath it in larger white print, it reads; “What if that IS the reason I’m asexual? What if my asexuality is just PTSD and I’m just broken?”]

No matter WHAT reason you’re asexual, born that way, choice, abuse, what the fuck ever …
YOU ARE NOT BROKEN.
IF YOU ARE HAPPY THE WAY YOU ARE.
YOU.
ARE.
NOT.
BROKEN.
… phew. It doesn’t matter the cause, the ace community is for anyone who feels they belong.

I’ve felt the same way as the op, but I’m perfectly ok with who I am. The cause is likely irrelevant for the most part. It is who I am. Just like I don’t analyze why I’m autistic. It doesn’t matter; I just am.

As depressing a thought as it is, I think most aces have felt broken before.

I don’t think it matters if people are “born” asexual or “become” asexual or choose to identify as asexual for any reason. If asexual is how you identify, then you’re asexual. And you’re welcome here. <3
